Preacher: Ian Hardcastle [Texts: John 10:22-30; Acts 9:36-32; Revelation 7:9-17]
As we continue to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we review his teaching and understand him to be the Son of God who holds us safe; he is glorified by the angels and he empowers his church.
Preacher: Ian Hardcastle [Texts Luke 9:28-36; Philippians 3:17-4:1]
Today our main reading is the account of the Transfiguration. Why does this come in Lent? Preacher: Ian Hardcastle [Texts: Ps 23; Ps 16; Rev 21:1-6; Mark 12:26-27]
Today, Ian brings to a close the series on Psalm 23 as we consider God's name: Yahweh my Portion and my Cup. We find that David had confidence in God for all he needed in this life and an inheritance in the afterlife. In the New Covenant we have the same hope in Christ. Today is All Saints Sunday and the theme from Ps 23 flows into a consideration of the Communion of Saints and what that means for us.
Preacher: Ian Hardcastle [Texts: Ephesians 3:1-12; Matthew 2:1-12] Epiphany - the Manifestation or showing of Christ. The Wise men were the first gentiles to come to see him. They received some revelation and followed the light they had to find Christ and give him their best. Should we do less? Paul says the Church is to show the wisdom of God to the heavenly powers. How might we do that?
Preacher: Ian Hardcastle [Text: Matthew 17:1-9] The strength of the Apostles' witness to the Transfiguration challenges us to take seriously this revelation of the nature of Jesus of Nazareth. Do we try to domesticate Jesus to be a good teacher or an amazing prophet? Peter headed in that direction and was corrected by a voice from heaven! Yet even as we accept him for who he says he is, we find that he will change us from glory to glory into his likeness.
Preacher: Peter Lloyd [Text: Colossians 1:15-20] Wow! This is a stunning passage as Paul tells us who Jesus Christ truly is! This is food for the soul.
Preacher: Ian Hardcastle [Text: Revelation 21:1-6] The readings in Revelation through the Easter Season paint a picture of the heavenly glory of Jesus. Let's look more closely at this glory and the things to come....
