Staff Vacancies - Op-shop Manager (Part-time)

Do you have an interest in upcycling and second hand goods?

At St Stephen’s Second Chance shop we help people dispose of surplus items in a good way, at the same time raising funds for a number of charities and missions.  We’re looking for an experienced retail manager especially interested in second-hand goods to work part time 2½ - 3 days per week,  overseeing the day to day running of our Op-Shop in Stanmore Bay and leading a great team of volunteers.  

Brief overview of Op-shop Manager Requirements

The Op Shop is a ministry of St Stephen’s Church to the community, the manager needs to identify with the beliefs and values of St Stephen’s.   

​Able to walk the talk you will be equally at home on the floor with our customers, leading our great team of volunteers, overseeing collections and deliveries and behind the desk managing day to day operations.  

Areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):
  • Overseeing the sorting, storing and display of suitable stock for sale and the disposal of unsatisfactory and/or old-unsold stock
  • Overseeing the Van operations which may include going out with the van to assist with collection and delivery, and ensuring only stock suitable for sale is collected.
  • Being responsible for store safety and appearance.
  • Interviewing and engaging volunteer helpers, and ensuring they are adequately trained for their duties.
  • Ensuring that the till takings are balanced daily, and removed from the premises and banked daily.
  • Ensuring accurate records are kept of daily sales and monthly expenses.
The Manager needs to be:
  • A leader
  • A good communicator
  • Strongly customer focused
  • Able to train Volunteers and delegate tasks
  • A good organiser
