The film called "The First Hymn" has recently been released about a fragment of Egyptian papyrus dated to 250-290AD which has the text and musical notation for an early Christian hymn. At that time, the church was persecuted by the Roman empire. Those Christian called for silence in nature so their praise could be heard, as they sang to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They were confident that heavenly powers were praising with them. Today we examine that hymn and then join in singing in the modern rendition written by Chris Tomlin and Ben Fielding.
