Ten men were healed by Jesus, but only one came back to say thank you. Imagine a miracle so life-changing it makes you fall to your knees in awe, yet nine simply walked away. Luke 17:11-19 challenges us to ask: how often do we take God’s blessings for granted? Trevor explored the power of gratitude, the faith that makes it possible, and what it means to truly respond to God’s generosity, just like the one grateful Samaritan.

A Love That Would Not Let Me Go

Preacher: Rev. Trevor McCracken [Texts: Psalm 127:1-5, Romans 5:1-5, John 17: 20-23]

Trevor shared part of his own faith journey, reflecting on how God’s persistent love has guided and protected him throughout his life, from childhood accidents and youthful doubts to his call into ordained ministry. He spoke about discovering the hymn “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go” and how its message became the story of his life and calling.

Drawing from his experiences and the words of Jesus’ prayer for unity, Trevor reminded us that God’s love never lets us go and calls each of us to live as witnesses of that love. Many in the congregation are currently taking part in the Ripple Effect Evangelism Course, learning how to share their own stories of faith—a fitting connection to today’s message about testimony and God’s unrelenting grace.

Don explores the final line of the Nicene Creed, "The Resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come," focusing on belief in the afterlife and resurrection. The Resurrection was a significant subject in the sermons reported in the Book of Acts. We don't know the timing of the Second Coming, so we should live ready for death and the divine future.
