Fundraiser for Short Term Mission Trip to Kondoa

16/8/2014

My latest sewing project has been to make my first patchwork bed quilt.  This should have been easy but I have chosen to make it out of embroidered table linen cut into four and a half inch squares.  I have just washed one hundred squares!  This is because the old cotton and linen had discoloured and there were some stains.  Trust me to take on a project which adds these complications!

However, by the grace of God, this project has led me to a brilliant idea.  Why not have a special afternoon tea as a fundraiser for our mission trip?  You see,
Ian and I are heading off to Kondoa again in just a month to speak at a conference Bishop GIven has arranged for his clergy and lay leaders.

The quilt then becomes a special part of our mission.  All those people who contributed pieces of table linen will be able to see how they have been pieced into a new thing of beauty.

I have also invited more experienced quilters than I to show their work and some will even offer work for sale.  My nephew may hang some of his artwork.  The 'gallery' - as I call my garage filled with Dad's paintings may also be of interest.

Tickets are available from Lynelle Mann (424-0808) or me (424-0939).

Hi, I'm Helen and I raise money for our Kondoa mission project by making jams, chutneys and marmalades.
